The Center for Firefighter Injury Research and Safety Trends (FIRST) is delighted to announce the promotion of Alexandra Fisher, MPH, CHES, from Project Coordinator to Project Manager of Education & Training.

Ms. Fisher joined the FIRST team in 2019 as a graduate student and participated in the Firefighter Injury Research, Epidemiology, and Evaluation (FIRE) Fellowship. She assisted with retention and recruitment efforts for the COVID-19 RAPID Mental Health Assessment, as well as for the Fire service Organizational Culture of Safety (FOCUS) survey.

In her new role, she is leading FOCUS 3.0 survey administration efforts as well as the development of an online Culture Camp, allowing fire service leaders to learn about safety culture and understand their department's FOCUS survey results. Ms. Fisher is leading the development of a workplace violence (WPV) prevention course for EMS responders in partnership with the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF). She also leads the award-winning FIRE Fellowship, a 10-week summer intensive for Master of Public Health students at the Dornsife School of Public Health. She will mentor students as they take on the opportunity to work with and serve community partners with real-world data.

Ms. Fisher received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Florida. She earned her Master of Public Health, concentrating in Community Health and Prevention, from the Dornsife School of Public Health. Prior to earning her MPH, she was an educator for several years, which piqued her interest in program development and evaluation. She became a Certified Health Education Specialist in 2022, designated by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing.

The FIRST Center is a research, education, and practice enterprise organized to support the United States fire and rescue service through objective data collection and analysis.
